Which internet providers in Omaha are the cheapest?

Xtream Powered by Mediacom has the cheapest internet plan in Omaha, with speeds up to 100 Mbps for just $19.99 per month. You can’t beat the price, and it increases only by $10 after the first 12 months. By comparison, the 100 Mbps cable internet plan from Cox Communications sets you back $49.99 each month, but it’s far more widely available in Omaha than Mediacom. For double the speed, Quantum Fiber offers a 200 Mbps plan for only $30.00 per month.

If you want gigabit speeds, CenturyLink and Quantum Communications have fiber internet for $70.00 per month, which is an excellent price compared to Cox ($99.99) and Mediacom ($129.99 after 12 months) cable internet. Plus, fiber has symmetrical speeds and better reliability than cable internet (if you can get it).

Which internet providers in Omaha are the fastest?

All landline internet providers in Omaha top out at 1,000 Mbps, but we suggest fiber if you can get it. Fiber has equal upload and download speeds, better reliability, and lower latency than cable internet. Quantum Communications and CenturyLink provide the fastest fiber internet for the same price, so you can’t go wrong with either one.

Mediacom’s gigabit cable internet plan is cheap for the first 12 months, but the price increases to $129.99 after that. Cox Communications is your only other cable internet alternative at $99.99 per month for gigabit speeds—with no price hikes like Xtream Powered by Mediacom.

Which internet providers have fiber in Omaha?

Quantum Communications and CenturyLink are the only fiber internet providers in Omaha. You can’t go wrong with either one—both offer identical plans at identical prices. Quantum Fiber has less availability than CenturyLink in Omaha, though.

Of the two, CenturyLink is the only provider ranked in our annual customer satisfaction survey. It scored last out of 12 on our list for overall satisfaction and remained last for speed and reliability satisfaction. Its best score was 9th out of 12 for price satisfaction. But our data did show fiber customers were much happier with their CenturyLink service than DSL users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who has the best home internet service in Omaha?

Cox Communications offers the overall best high-speed internet for your home in Omaha. Although the speeds won’t be quite as fast as CenturyLink , they are much more consistent across the entire service area. Cox also generally scores higher in our customer satisfaction survey.

Does Cox or CenturyLink provide faster internet service?

CenturyLink and Cox Communications are mostly similar in their top download speeds, but CenturyLink’s fiber has faster uploads than Cox’s cable internet. We always suggest fiber for its symmetrical speeds, efficiency, and reliability.

What’s the best cheap internet in Omaha?

Cox Communications has a starter plan for $29.99 per month, but its max download speed is limited to 25 Mbps. The cheapest plan from CenturyLink costs $50.00 per month for up to 100 Mbps. Xtream Powered by Mediacom costs $19.99 per month for up to 100 Mbps if it’s available in your area.

Omaha residential internet coverage

Omaha residents have plenty of fast internet available, with 98% of the area receiving broadband speeds of at least 25 Mbps. Unfortunately, there are only a couple of big providers that offer wide coverage around the city, so the choice is more limited than in other parts of the country.

CenturyLink is one of the fastest internet providers in Omaha with fiber internet reaching up to 940 Mbps. CenturyLink also has DSL internet if fiber isn’t in your area, but the maximum download speed is just 100 Mbps.

Cox Communications provides cable internet, which is a good alternative if fiber isn’t in your area. The maximum download speed matches CenturyLink’s fiber at 940 Mbps, but cable internet doesn’t have symmetrical speeds like fiber, so your uploads will be far slower than your downloads.

Xtream Powered by Mediacom is another cable internet provider in the area, but its availability is limited. The maximum download speed you’ll see is 100 Mbps.

HughesNet and Viasat are available everywhere in the Omaha area (and the rest of the US) if you prefer your internet to come from space. Viasat is your fastest satellite provider with speeds up to 150 Mbps.

Highest-rated internet service providers in Omaha

The highest ranking national internet provider for overall customer satisfaction is Xtream Powered by Mediacom based on our annual customer satisfaction survey. It lands at the very center of our list of 13 national providers, topping Cox Communications and CenturyLink.

Xtream Powered by Mediacom and Cox Communications go head-to-head in customer service, speed, price, and reliability satisfaction, while CenturyLink falls behind them both in speed and customer service satisfaction. The only category CenturyLink outranks the competition is in price satisfaction.

On a regional level, Rise Broadband’s fixed wireless service holds its own. It’s speed satisfaction scores are a litte lower than the cable internet operators, but Rise Broadband customers appear to be more satisfied with pricing than those with Xtream Powered by Mediacom and CenturyLink. Quantum Fiber did not rank on our survey.

Locked us out of our email and then couldn't restore it. Spent seven hours of and on trying to get it restored while they lied to me over and over again. Lost all of our emails and contacts of six years.

Cox is the absolute worst. Our service is constantly failing and they don't care. They don't maintain their infrastructure and ignore their customers.

Worst customer service I’ve dealt with. Went to schedule an appointment to have a tech come out and activate my service and I was told I already have everything in place so no need for a tech. I thought great, well that was complete bs. Now I’m the on in the inconvenience when I schedule a date for a tech and they chose to tell me I didn’t need one when that was wrong by 2 different people. Do not listen to the reps and force them to send a tech out. BS
