If you’re an AT&T fiber customer and you sign up for an unlimited AT&T cell phone plan, you get 25% off your monthly wireless bill. Pro tip:

Use our “How Much Internet Speed Do I Need?” tool to see what Wi-Fi bandwidth is best for what you do online. Sometimes you can save money by picking a slower plan—because oftentimes even a slower download speed is still fast.

Apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program to lower your bill even more

The federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) helps low-income families afford an internet connection by providing $30 per month toward a household’s internet bill. Households on Tribal land or high-cost areas might be eligible for enhanced support of up to $75 per month. AT&T participates in this program, so you can get internet for as low as $25 per month.

You may qualify for the ACP if at least one person in your household meets the following criteria:

  • Qualifies for the Lifeline Program
  • Is approved for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP)
  • Has received a Pell Grant in the current year
  • Is currently eligible for certain providers’ low-income programs
  • Receives assistance through SNAP or WIC

Head to our ACP guide to learn how to apply.

What fees do you pay with AT&T internet?

Extra fees are common in almost every internet plan, but AT&T goes easy on the customer compared to most internet providers. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you don’t have to pay for:

  • No equipment charges
  • No charge for self installation
  • No data cap on plans with speeds of 100 Mbps or faster
  • No price hikes after 12 months with speeds of 300 Mbps or higher

Alright, now here’s the breakdown of the fees you do have on an AT&T plan:

AT&T internet fees

FeeCost
Installation feeFree (self-install and for fiber plans), $99.00 (pro installation for DSL)
Equipment feeNone
Data overage feeFiber: none; DSL: $10 for each additional 50 GB of data up to $100; fixed wireless: $10 for each additional 50 GB of data up to $200
Late fee$5.00 (payment usually processes at 12 a.m. EST on the scheduled payment date)

DSL plans have a data limit, but it’s a generous 1 TB per month, which you aren’t likely to exceed on sluggish DSL speeds. AT&T’s fixed wireless service is a lot stricter with data, though, giving you just 350 GB per month.
